Riyadh Metro Records 200 Million Passenger Journeys

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has announced that the Riyadh Metro has recorded a total of 200 million passenger journeys since operations began.

This figure was reached only months after the network passed the 100-million passenger mark, indicating the continued growth in ridership across the metro’s six lines.

The RCRC said the increase reflects steady passenger demand and the strong operational performance of the network.

The Blue Line, which runs along Olaya Street, accounts for the largest share of journeys at around 45 percent. It is followed by the Red Line along King Abdullah Road with 16 percent and the Orange Line on Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah Road with approximately 14 percent. The remaining lines have also recorded increases in passenger numbers as the system expands its connections across different districts of the city.

Operational data released by the commission shows that the metro has travelled a combined distance of about 32.2 million kilometres and completed roughly 1.13 million train trips. Service availability has been reported at more than 99.8 percent.

Several stations have seen higher passenger volumes than others, particularly major interchange locations such as Qasr Al-Hukm, STC, KAFD and the National Museum. These stations allow passengers to transfer between lines and connect with other parts of the transport network. More
