Riyadh Metro new ticket prices 2026

The Riyadh Public Transport Authority has announced new Riyadh Metro ticket prices for school and university students and its new annual prices for 2026.

The Riyadh Public Transport Authority has announced new annual and student ticket prices for 2026. Effective from January 1, 2026, the annual tickets can be purchased for SAR 1,260 for regular category and SAR 3,150 for First Class category. The annual tickets are available for everyone and has a validity of one year. Tickets are available as Darb card in both plastic and digital formats.

Travelling by Riyadh Metro is now easier for students as Riyadh Metro introduces the Semester Ticket. Available to all school and university students, the Semester Ticket is ticketed per semester, valid for four months from the activation date. It is available in Regular category only and is priced at SAR 260. It is also offered in plastic and digital formats.

The Semester Ticket helps students have a hassle-free and quicker commute with fixed prices and aligned with the semester dates.

In August, Riyadh Metro reported a record of reaching 100 million passengers since its launch in December last year.

The Riyadh Metro project consists of six main lines and 84 stations spanning 176km, covering most of the city’s high-density residential neighbourhoods, government facilities, and vital educational and commercial areas.

If you’re new to using the city’s metro, here’s a quick overview of the six Riyadh Metro lines:

  • Blue Line: From SAB to Ad Dar Al Baida
  • Red Line: King Abdullah Road, connecting King Fahd Sports City and King Saud University
  • Orange Line: From Jeddah Road to Khashm Al An
  • Yellow Line: From King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) to King Khalid International Airport (KKIA)
  • Green Line: King Abdulaziz Road, connecting Ministry of Education Station to the National Museum Station
  • Purple Line: From KAFD to An Naseem.

Ticket prices

Besides paying for tickets per trip, you can avail of the Metro Pass if you take the metro trains regularly. The different passes available are:

  • SAR4 for a 2-hour ticket
  • SAR20 for a 3-day ticket
  • SAR40 for a 7-day ticket
  • SAR140 for a 30-day ticket.

Tickets are free for children under the age of six years.

Riyadh Metro tickets can be purchased in three ways – by downloading and purchasing through Darb App or the Riyadh Bus App; and by using your credit cards or Mada cards.
