RCRC Launches Othman Bin Affan and King Salman Roads Development Project in Riyadh

Project Scope and Capacity Covering 4.3 kilometers, the initiative involves erecting seven new bridges and improving current road lanes.

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has initiated construction on the Othman Bin Affan Road and King Salman Road enhancement scheme, intended to ease congestion and upgrade travel conditions across the Saudi capital.

These measures will raise the corridor’s capacity to handle roughly 500,000 vehicles daily, boosting links between major routes in northern Riyadh, according to RCRC. Intersection Upgrades The work includes overhauling key junctions at King Salman Road and Anas bin Malik Road via an integrated bridge system with two to four lanes each.

This will improve connections between the northern and southern parts of King Salman Road, shorten travel durations, and enhance traffic flow in the vicinity. Traffic Management RCRC has implemented a temporary traffic reroute on the road’s northern section, starting Thursday, May 21, 2026, as part of a wider traffic control strategy developed with relevant agencies to ensure safe and steady movement during construction.

Phased Diversion Plan Carried out in two stages, the reroute keeps three primary lanes open in both directions. It features thorough directional and cautionary signs, live updates on navigation apps, and a dedicated website offering ongoing information about the project’s advancement.
