Haramain Express Connecting Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah to Become Operational This Year

The Haramain Express Train project that would be linking Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah and the under-construction King Khalid Economic City is expected to become operational this year.

Baghdadi—Spokesman Saudi Transport Ministry while briefing the media delegation of Pakistan led by Masood Malik—Managing Director Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) said that the train would be a state-of-the-art facility and would be facilitating millions of Hajj pilgrims other than providing ease to other commuters.

He added that the train is expected to connect other areas of the Kingdom too in near future.

The train would be connecting Jeddah and Madinah airports and the local metro stations to provide transportation facility to the local travellers besides the Hajj pilgrims. Baghdadi added that the train would help in promoting the tourism in the Kingdom as well.

He further informed that the new train service would be equipped with the most recent technology security arrangements for ensuring the safety and protection of the passengers.

The train would be having executive and economy classes and facilities like a kitchen built as per international standards, TV sets and Wi-Fi. Additionally, millions of Hajj pilgrims would be able to avail the booking facility at their doorsteps.

Spokesman Saudi Transport Ministry informed to the delegation that the stations are also built on international standards and are provided with the latest digitalized scanning and information systems for providing all the facilities to the passengers.

It is important to mention that the 450-kilometre electric railways project would serve as a quantitative addition in the transportation system of the Kingdom and would be providing a fast, safe, convenient and reliable mode of transportation between Makkah and Madinah extending to Jeddah and other cities.
