How has construction progressed on Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Metro, and when is the project due for completion? Construction Week explains here.
The $23-billion Riyadh Metro has made significant progress in 2018. It is due for a soft launch in 2019, and is expected to be fully operational in 2021. Work on the project’s deep tunnels and bridges is 100% complete, according to a recent Saudi Gazette report, and surface routes are 93% complete.
Construction is under way on more than 250 sites along the route for the metro project. Earlier this month, two operation and maintenance (O&M) contracts were awarded by Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) to Camco and Flow respectively for Lines 1-2 and 3-6 of the project. Upon completion, Knight Frank explained earlier in 2018, Riyadh Metro’s stations will boost the property valuations of the areas in their surroundings.
